Representation

To update you all with information about my project, I want to share what this film is supposed to represent. The two main characters in my film opening that fall in love, demonstrate how people from two completely different social groups can form a relationship with each other. The girl and the boy in the film are both very different from each other which is what makes it so intriguing. This represents how it does not matter where a person is from, people find love in the most unexpected ways. It is interesting to understand people's thought and stories and how they come to meet. This also gets the audience to think, be more open minded about others. Two people with different life styles can come together, forming a strong relationship. One being very shy, closed off and the other being outgoing, having many friends and going out. Giving us different perspectives of the film, and how they come to meet. Now that I will be starting to film very soon, the audience will get a great understanding of this representation. Will be posting more information soon!

The Plot

 I have already come up with plenty of ideas for the film project and I am so excited to start filming. Obviously, there are a couple parts that have to be finished and gone over but overall I am pretty prepared. In my previous post, I had explained the characters and what they are all about which is very important for the film since it is based on the characters and their relationship. 

I want my film to start off showing each character doing their own thing, living their lives. For example, the boy in the film would be playing baseball ball, slacking off and sleeping, etc. The girl would be studying, alone in her room, most of the time. Clips of them back and forth demonstrate how different their lives are, one being more of an introvert and the other an extrovert. Remember, they have no idea who each other are. All of a sudden they run into each other and can't forget about one another. Something like love at first sight kind of scenario. Since they don't know who they are, it is a mission to figure it out, which would then develop into the rest of the film. I believe that the opening is important to the film because it is their very first interaction, making it memorable to the audience. 

This is going to be an interesting project which takes time and effort to come up with ideas for the plot. So far, as of what I have ready, it is going to be an awesome film opening. Small details such as clothing, language, and even the environment are necessary to take into consideration to catch the eye of the target audience. I must have the plot along with everything else well prepared for the day that I begin to film. Production is coming very soon, so thrilled!

Character Background

Proceeding with my project, I have started planning the story that I want to tell with my film opening. A very important factor in this is the characters. When choosing how I want the characters to be like and their qualities, I have to put into consideration what the audience wants to see. I want to have one male and one female as my main characters in this film. The female, named Jordyn Miller, is perceived as a shy hometown girl, does not have many friends, and is more to herself. She does not care much about popularity and focuses on her studies and future. The male, whose name is Danny Rivers, in this film is the big jock, an all-star baseball player. The typical guy that every girl wants, but he's not very interested in anyone, he hasn't found the one. He focuses on his baseball career, very good-looking, and knows how to have a good time. He likes to party and go out, but baseball always comes first. They are complete polar opposites, that fall in love, turning it into a romance. Both characters are seniors that go to the same high school, but in different social groups, and have no idea who each other are. This is going to lead to an interesting plot, as I develop the film opening when they first meet. I am very excited to continue working on this project, can't wait to share what's to come!

Research

 Hey everyone! To go more into detail inspirations I got for my film, I decided to research different t.v. series and movies for ideas on my film, I came across many scenes that give me great ideas for my project. These pieces give me a great understanding of how I would like my film to be.  Since I have chosen to go with the romance genre, I thought of a couple movies that fit the scene I was picturing. There is obviously a lot of work that needs to be done, but I found many great examples of romance clips. The clips indicate the connections made between characters, which is exactly what I am looking for in the romance genre. It is a great way to engage the audience to want to watch more to see what happens with the characters further into the production. 

Two scenes that I found were from The Vampire Diaries and After: 

The Vampire Diaries- This is a scene from The Vampire Diaries where two of the main characters first meet, later on developing a relationship. This is a great example of a scene that I can look into to get ideas for my own. At the end of this clip, it demonstrates how when they first meet they are both mesmerized by one another.

After- This is another scene in the film After in which the two main characters have an engaging conversation, in which the audience can interpret that there might be a relationship with them. When the characters meet, it forms a connection that will play along in the rest of the film. This demonstrates how the beginning is very important to films, as they add on to the plot of the production. 

The Genre

I have finally decided on the genre that I would like to go with going on with my film project. The genre that I am going with is Romance. As I started going through the t.v. shows and movies that I have watched I wanted to look for something that they all have in common. I noticed that I usually go for productions that have love story/relationship plots, which is why I decided to go with Romance. I feel that if I choose a genre that I really like, I'll be much more intrigued rather than choosing a random one that I don't really have much interest in. The inspiration I got from movies and t.v. shows gave me plenty of ideas for my film, where the characters first meet leaving a mystery for the rest of the production. After choosing this genre, a started looking into the audience that my film should target, which is more towards a female audience in their teenage years, typically around 13-18. For my film, I will focus on what my audience would enjoy and what would catch their eye. More updates to updates to come, stay tuned!

The Approach

To continue on with this new project, the approach is very important. I must have everything planned out well to be ready to film.  There are many aspects to put into consideration for my film as I obviously want it to be the best-produced film I could possibly do. To do so, I must think through each area that I must cover for the film.

 For the genre, I must do research to determine which one I would go with.  As I do extensive research, it allows me to get a good idea of what I should make my film about. As I compare different genres, I will determine which one I would like to go with, by deciding which one will make the best film along with which is the most interesting to me. The genre will also determine who my target audience will be, which is a very important aspect to consider when filming. The film should target the age of the audience and their preferences. 

As for the plot, I have to brainstorm and come up with ideas for my film opening. It must be something that catches the eye of the viewers. As I will be producing an opening, it is very important to make sure that it grabs the attention of the audience. After I decide the genre I want to go with, I will then brainstorm different ideas for the film opening.

Another important aspect is the characters that I will be putting in my film opening. As I do further research into the genres and decide which to go with. I will be researching movies and the actors/actresses in them as well. This will allow me to gain an idea of the traits each character has to be able to create my own characters. As for who I choose for my film, it will be based on who I believe will fit the character that I want to display. 

There are many different features that should be approached to create a film. It takes a lot of preparation and hard work for good production.  The film that I will create will be the best to its potential as I put in time and effort for this project. More updates are yet to come!

The Start of Something New!

     Hey everyone! I wanted to come on here and tell you all about this new project that I am starting. This is an exciting project in which I am able to demonstrate to you all how much I have learned throughout the year. The project that I have been given is to create my very own film opening from scratch. I am very thrilled to show Cambridge my work, and final product.  Deciding the genre, plot, characters, and much more all on my own. Although this might be a bit overwhelming to make my very own film opening, I believe that a positive mind and dedication will lead me to a successful film. As there are many steps to this project, I will have to have everything fully thought out to make this film the best it can be. There are many qualities that must be taken into consideration when creating a film. For example, the genre is a very important decision because it determines what the film will be about. The plot must also be well thought out, from beginning to end as it should be intriguing and also well filmed. For such an important project, I have to deeply think about my plan and how to approach this. As I continue, I will be updating every step along the way, excited to share what's to come. 

My Music Marketing Process

 Hey everyone! I wanted to come on here and share with you all the full process of our music marketing project. My group and I have come a long way in planning and producing this project and I want to share every detail from it. As I had said in my last post, we started off by researching artists in the genre of the artist we created. We were given the country genre, where we looked for the biggest country record companies, like Universal Music Group Nashville and Warner Music Nashville with artists such as Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood to get an idea of who we want our artist to be. As we gave our artist the name Daisey Davis, we used nature to symbolize her. Daisey is a hometown girl from Florida that loves the outdoors and uses her love for music to show it to her audience. Her backstory and personal life contribute a lot to her music, which is what we used to represent Daisey. 

 My group and I made a music video for the song "Need You Now" starring Daisey Davis. We used specific colors, visuals, lighting, and symbols to deliver the best product we could possibly do. The video's two settings are outdoors in the nature of a park and Daisey's bedroom. We decided to make one set in a park to symbolize her love for nature surrounded by flowers and plants and her bedroom and the pictures give off a teenage girl's 'heartbreak' demonstration. The colors for the bedroom being more of a dark blue/purple, represent the dejection and heartache of the song. As for the camera shots, the close-up and medium shots capture the emotion in the video that is being expressed. As we presented this to our peers we tried to demonstrate the connection of the video with the audience. Giving them full details about our production plan gets them to understand our ideas and what we are trying to accomplish. The music video gives a chance for her potential fans to reach out and emotionally connect with the music through visuals. It will also help with marketing by building up a fanbase and gaining more musical recognition. 

As for marketing Daisey and her music, my group and I have decided to create social media accounts for her best-fit audience. Daisey's target audience is typically younger teenage girls, as her songs are typically more relatable to them. With the song that we chose, "Need You Now" teenage girls that go through breakups and heartbreaks are likely to listen to it. With that being said, we decided to make an Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube account along with her very own website. For her Instagram, we decided to post teasers of her new music video and upcoming events that she will be having so that people can be up to date with what's going on. For her Twitter, we want to make it more of an interactive account where she not only posts teasers but also about different aspects of her life and other relatable posts. Her YouTube will have her full music video uploaded along with teasers for not only her music video but future videos as well. Lastly, her website is a fun and engaging way for her audience to truly get to know Daisey. There will be games, merchandise, upcoming events, and other significant ways to connect with Daisey. The merchandise has pictures of flowers and butterflies that are used to symbolize Daisey. Through the accounts, Daisey is able to spread the different platforms her music is on, for example, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. These social media accounts will help her marketing campaign by allowing her audiences to access her music through different platforms.

From what I learned from this project is all the time, work, and effort it takes to create a new artist. There are a lot of aspects that are significant to marketing music and be successful with it. Different aspects that I learned about while doing this project were mainly how to market and plan for music production. How social media and different platforms are used to create a successful production. The more publicity, the more popular the artist becomes. This will help develop my Cambridge Portfolio by giving me experience in first-hand marketing and learning the process of it. It gave me an opportunity to understand how different media works and the importance of different areas in the music business. This also allowed me to have a much better understanding of what it is like to not only market but also distribute music to different areas in the technology world. The content that an artist puts out should be what the fans enjoy so that they are able to connect with them and give them what they like.
